One Tall Drink of Water

Literally.

Stream in the Rainforest

We saw this scene while touring a park in Roatan, Honduras.  It’s just a beautiful picture of God’s creation.

Traveler’s Palm

This is a Traveler’s Palm.  We learned about these from our guide in Roatan, Honduras.  As you can see, they’re quite tall.  The supposedly only open north-to-south (we saw them facing all different directions in Belize) and they hold rainwater between the fronds, so a wandering traveler could find his way and get a drink if he ran across one of these in his journeys.  Who knew?

Port of Belize

I snapped this shot as we left Belize City.  The cruise ship couldn’t dock due to the depth, so we were taken to shore via a small Navy of boats.  We were then dropped off at this festive location.  Not too shabby.

Honduran Beach

Is “Honduran” even a word?  What do you call a beach from Honduras?  Hondurasian?  Anyway, this is a picture of the beach where we went clear-bottom kayaking.  Cool stuff.  The only problem is that they beach the kayaks on the sand, so the bottoms are pretty scraped up, making for low visibility.  It was still fun though.  I’d do it again, but would probably pass on the clear-bottom and just do a regular kayak trip.

Cannonball!

This old cannon is a decoration in Belize.  It was part of the port defenses back in the day.  I was able to snap this picture while the bus was taking us to our Zip-Line and Cave Tubing excursion.  Fun stuff.

Is it safe?

We crossed this bridge when we got to it . . . in Honduras.  I just love the jungle scenery all around it.  Our guide told us the water there was roughly 70 feet deep.  I swear I saw this in an “Indiana Jones” movie once.

Happy Father’s Day

For Father’s Day, here’s a picture of my Dad with Hunter at Lake Pleasant.  We were on our way back from an afternoon of playing near the water, so Hunter was pooped out.  I think they both took a nap once we got back to the RV.

Caribbean Sunrise

I was able to snap this from the deck of our cruise ship, the Norwegian Pearl, on the way to Honduras.  I love the coloration on the clouds, as well as the shadow of the big cloud hiding the sun.  It’s also one of my desktop backgrounds at home.  So relaxing.

A Man and His Dog

That’s my Dad and his dog Shadow lounging on a rock at Lake Pleasant.  He found Shadow when she wandered over to the church one day, and he’s had her ever since.  And yes, it’s typical for the two of them to be lounging.
