We saw this scene while touring a park in Roatan, Honduras. It’s just a beautiful picture of God’s creation.

Clarinda likes it when I take pictures with people in them. I usually just like pictures of nature and such. But, since I’m such a nice, loving husband, I took this picture of her for her, and it turned out pretty good. That’s her posing with a flower from the jungles of Honduras. Doesn’t that sound wild and exotic?
This is a Traveler’s Palm. We learned about these from our guide in Roatan, Honduras. As you can see, they’re quite tall. The supposedly only open north-to-south (we saw them facing all different directions in Belize) and they hold rainwater between the fronds, so a wandering traveler could find his way and get a drink if he ran across one of these in his journeys. Who knew?
Is “Honduran” even a word? What do you call a beach from Honduras? Hondurasian? Anyway, this is a picture of the beach where we went clear-bottom kayaking. Cool stuff. The only problem is that they beach the kayaks on the sand, so the bottoms are pretty scraped up, making for low visibility. It was still fun though. I’d do it again, but would probably pass on the clear-bottom and just do a regular kayak trip.
UPDATE: It’s a Cashew Fruit. If you look on the bottom, that’s a cashew in it’s shell. One nut per fruit. They typically take the fruit and make cashew wine from it. It’s big in Honduras.
Can you guess what kind of fruit that is? Let’s see if someone can figure it out before I give you the answer. Post your guesses in the comments below.
